CSR-1 filing: we are told we cannot receive any CSR funds without it. Is that right, and how long does it take?

Correct. Since 2021 an entity must be registered with the MCA by filing Form CSR-1 to be eligible to receive CSR funds. Companies check this, and a serious CSR team will simply not proceed without your registration number.

You need 12A and 80G (or the relevant registration) in place first, and a digital signature certificate. Filing itself is not slow, the delay is almost always in getting the prerequisites and the DSC in order. Budget a few weeks, not months, if your other registrations are current.

can confirm. We lost a committed CSR grant in 2022 purely because our CSR-1 was not filed and they could not legally disburse. The money went elsewhere.
