zero design budget, no designer. how do we not look like a fake org to funders who google us
Three things, in order of return.
One, a working website with your registration numbers, your board, your audited financials and a real address. Not a pretty website, a credible one. Most orgs fail here and no amount of design fixes it.
Two, consistent decent photos. One good camera phone, natural light, faces, consent. This beats stock imagery and beats bad graphic design.
Three, pick two fonts and two colours and never deviate. That alone reads as ‘organised’ and costs nothing.
What funders are actually checking when they google you is whether you are real and whether you are careless. Neither is a design problem.
‘not a pretty website, a credible one’ is going straight into our next board note
canva and restraint. that is the entire nonprofit design industry
